Impeachment Inquiry Committee
Speaker Madigan plans to appoint 12 senior Democrat members and 9 senior Republican members to an Impeachment Inquiry Committee to begin its work tomorrow. Majority Leader Currie will chair the committee.
The committee will meet everyday except the holidays (Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years day) and will proceed with all due speed to finish its work. However, the committee will work within the guidelines of Constitutional protections. The committee will look at an abuse of power and current charges as the basis of its inquiry.
Speaker Madigan believes the work product of the Impeachment Inquiry Committee can carry over to the next General Assembly, with legislation that would be entertained by that General Assembly.
